Lewis Hamilton just added a fourth world title by finishing 9th in Mexico City. He’s the first British Formula One driver to win four world championships.
“It doesn’t feel real. That’s not the kind of race that I want. I never gave up, I kept going right to the end”, said an emotional Hamilton.
He joins Vettel and Alain Prost on four world titles, behind only Michael Schumacher, who holds the all-time record with seven, and Juan Manuel Fangio’s five.
PSG’s forward Neymar sent a message to the champion: “Hey Lewis, it’s Neymar. I’m very happy for you bro.”
Verstappen won the race today ahead of Bottas and Raikkonen, leading the pack from the very beginning. “The start was crucial. After last week this was the perfect race”, he said.
Hamilton was hit in the first lap by Vettel, who managed to finish fourth but needed to be second to keep the championship fight alive.
